Yes I CANNES Photo Blog - Day 11

French men passing time...

So much swag...

And not enough Euros... The shopper's dilemma at Cannes!

A warm drink and Crepe avec Nutella - bon appetit!

The gates to the rooftop theater - the Salle du Soixantieme.  Waiting for seating to start for Guillaume Canet's 70's Crime story send up Blood Ties.

At least we had some shelter from the rain!

Here's the gourmet sandwich stand where I bought my drink, my crepe and my cheese and ham panini for 9.50 euros!  Cheapest meal of the fest!

The sun tries to put in a guest appearance...

The 60th Anniversary theater on top of the Palais.

I'm wearing a really pretty dress - you just can't see it...

So I walked on a couple Red Carpets it seems.
Brie cheese with bleu cheese hybrid?  My life is now complete!

Wines from around the world - literally.  The host of this party asked all his guests to bring a favorite or sample from their home town.  Next year I'll come prepared!

View from our host's apartment - Cest bon - no?

A new friend from NYC!  The Film Festival Wine Tasting event was a wonderful place to meet amazing people!

Fireworks from the Majestic Hotel restaurant.  FINALLY - the kind of welcome I've been expecting in Cannes :D

New friends from Maryland and Florida! There may be some collaborations in the future - only time will tell!

Yes I CANNES Photo Blog - Day 10

French Clowns - Creepy or Cool?  Discuss amongst yourselves...

This street is a couple back from the Coisette and absolutely charming.  I really love the flowers!

Quick - how many topless sunbathers can you spot in this picture???

Troma is here in full force - just behind them - the Red Carpet!

Troma! Troma! Troma!
AmPav exclusive clip featuring JAMES FRANCO!!! (Yep! Check it out!!!)

It wouldn't embed yesterday - but here it is in all it's 28 second glory!!! :)

Yes I CANNES Photo Blog - Day 9

Upon waking up with an immobile left shoulder from too much fun the night before - I 'called in dead' to my internship and decided to have a Laverie day!

That's French for laundry - I think...

In La Bocca (where the hotel is) the streets close up early - just like New Smyrna Beach, FL.  I guess it's because all the fun people are at the Film Festival down in Cannes...

But in case someone decides to have 'fun' in La Bocca, at least the Pharmacie leaves them with a safe alternative to 24-hour Walgreens ;)

Chinese take-out French style.  What can I say? When I do a night in - I do it right!

View from the balcony at night.  Still not a bad way to spend an evening.

A fellow filmmaker drew attention to the fact that I'm wearing 'many hats' at the festival. He didn't know how right he was... In addition to this photo - I'm working on an introspective blog for a little bit later...

Yes I CANNES Photo Blog - Day 8

Confession #1 - My camera batteries died.  Confession #2 - I wandered off a ways to find a shop that sold something as mundane as AAs.  Discovery - This adorable street with 'award winning pavement!'

American Directors in Cannes panel courtesy of American Express and Sennheiser.

Standing room only - the place was packed.  Thank you Jim Mickle, David Lassiter and James Toback!

So many countries to make movies in!  I'd better get busy if I'm going to hit them all :)

The women of Tangerine Entertainment! Please 'Like' their Facebook Page.  Thank you Anne and Amy!

A beautiful day at The American Pavilion! We've got great 'real estate.' Thank you American Express.

It just might be time to do that Korean Project I've always wanted to do...

Crashed a panel at the Indian Pavilion too! These pavilions are GREAT!

Watched a program of beautifully made short films courtesy of Lexus and the Weinstien Corporation in a cushy screening room at the Olympia Theater.  Can't say just who - but there were some pretty impressive VIPs in the audience!

Stars on the Red Carpet! Again - can't say just who - but that's because I couldn't see them for all the press...

Street musicians.  They were great and the lady sounded like a French Dolly Parton!

Yes I CANNES Photo Blog - Day 7

Another rainy day???  Must be time for some MOVIES! Saw this riveting documentary in a very exclusive screening.  Watch for an Indie Minute on this one soon!

Realized I wasn't getting enough of the gratuitous Palias pics to prove I'm actually still here...

I'm actually still here.  Obviously - this red carpet isn't ready for me.  There aren't nearly enough photographers on hand yet!

Cool little sculpture in front of the Lumiere. Someday kids'll ask, "What's all that stuff wrapped around the movie camera?" Eastman Kodak - RIP...

A busy night at the American Pavilion behind the 'Soda Stream' Counter.

Kinda just puts you in the mood for a warm cup of tea - doesn't it?

This is actually from a few days ago - but I draw your attention to the image on the lower left side.  See the guy hanging from the clock?  That little gem is from a silent Harold Lloyd film called Safety Last!

...which was being presented by the Lloyd's granddaughter Suzanne (Center) with an all new score composed and conducted by the man on the left - Carl Davis!  (He sat two seats down from me during the screening!)

At the end of the film, they showed us an even MORE digitally enhanced clip from the film that included some 3D effects!  It was VERY cool!

Yes I CANNES Photo Blog - Day 6

Apparently the Cannes Public Works crew also doubles at a Quidditch team...

'He's into me for everything I'm not - Accordion to you...' (Music in the air!)

Even with a storm brewing, the Mediterranean has a certain je ne sais quoi...?

This is the lovely Palais (where all the films are) from down on Vegaluna Beach (across from the Carlton!)

A chandelier in a temporary 'tent' at Vegaluna Beach overlooking a yacht.  This is just sooo Cannes!
Found some friendly Florida Faces at the FLIFF tent!  And look Chase - they're pimping your movie!  (Writer/Director Chase Conner, Less Lost)

The spirit of South Beach alive and well on the French Riviera!  (Okay - so Lauderdale isn't South Beach - but look at this photo and tell me I'm wrong!)

So I might have arrived just in time for the FLIFF/Cinequest party.  Nice spread - mais oui?

Okay ladies - forget all about 'box of wine.'  Olivier is bringing you the ultimate accessory - BAG of wine!!!

The party hit full swing much later in the evening!  Soooo...

I just HAD to hit the dance floor!  Vive la danse!
